The Y-DNA test traces the paternal ancestry of males. Results are placed in our Y-DNA database and identify the ethnic and geographic origin of the paternal line. If African in origin, results are compared with the African research database and the likely region of origin within Africa is identified. If not African in origin, results identify whether the paternal ancestry is Native American, European, or Asian. When another person shows similar or identical results, we will inform both parties of the match if both have signed the AfricanDNA Release Form. The customer receives a certificate and report describing their regional origin results. Only males can test the Y chromosome. The test traces the direct paternal line without any influence from the women along the way.
